WINE

My name is Ivo. As a young man I rebelled against the communistic Czech government and dreamt of owning my own business. I dreamt up many elaborate names for my company but the one that stuck was Charlie & Charlie. When this special opportunity thus came my way I didn’t think, I just jumped, boots, hairspray and all.

My wine adventure began 10 years ago when I set foot on African soil for the first time. The cotenant immediately lured me with its open spaces and natural beauty, love at first site! Due to my drinking habits I found the southern winelands especially attractive, and thus settled in the tiny but breathtakingly beautiful little town of Rooiels.

First I tentatively dabbed my fingers into the wine game. Then I met Ivan, a photographer with an contagious passion for wine, and over many “snoek braais” and some zealous wine consumption Charlie & Charlie came to life.

“snoek braai” – snoek is a type of fish which is traditionally grilled (braai) over a wood fire.
